The World Peace Prayer Society

The Vision

The World Peace Prayer Society was founded by Japanese teacher, poet and philosopher, Masahisa Goi (1916-1980). Following the devastation of World War ii, Mr Goi received the prayer, May Peace Prevail On Earth, in a moment of great inspiration. He realised that these words express the common aspirations of all humankind, regardless of nationality or religion. May Peace Prevail On Earth is powerful enough to activate global peace consciousness. After the passing of Mr Goi, his daughter, Masami Saionji was appointed as Chairperson of the Society.

THE PEACE POLE PROJECT

What is a Peace Pole?
Peace Poles are usually four or six sided columns with the message, May Peace Prevail On Earth, printed on each side in the languages of the world. They are planted and dedicated around the world and are now recognised as the most prominent international symbol and monument to peace.
The message, May Peace Prevail On Earth, was authored by the Japanese writer, poet and philosopher, Masahisa Goi. The planting of Peace Poles was started in Japan as a grassroots community project in 1975 and has grown into an international peace movement. It is estimated that there are more than 200,000 Peace Poles that have been dedicated in almost every country in the world.

Why Plant a Peace Pole?

Planting a Peace Pole is a way of bringing people together to inspire, awaken and uplift the human consciousness the world over.
It will connect you with the network of people around the world who planted their Peace Poles in the same spirit of peace. When you plant a Peace Pole you are imprinting a positive thought form in the hearts, minds and existence of all of creation. It is a wonderful project for any community group, from children to senior citizens.

Where are Peace Poles Planted?

Peace Poles have been planted and gifted by people like you and me in back yards, churches, gardens, schools, libraries, parks and other community locations. Many of them have also been planted by prominent individuals and organisations in some extraordinary places!

This Peace Pole is planted at the Baha'i Centre in Hobart.
It was dedicated at Symphony of Peace Prayers, May 2009 and donated by Tomoko Ukai, from Japan.
